VA Secretary, “I incorrectly stated that I had been in Special Forces.”

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald apologized Monday for misstating that he served in the military’s special forces.

McDonald made the erroneous claim while speaking to a homeless veteran during a segment that aired last month on “CBS Evening News.”  http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/02/23/veterans-affairs-secretary-apologizes-for-misstating-that-served-in-special/

I really don’t think this is a big deal reading the story. Not like he listed Special Forces in his résumé or told the story many times. Actually I am more interested in the homeless veteran saying he was in SF.

Why does it seem many homeless people (and non-homeless as well) profess to being veterans that served in Force Recon or Special Forces. I do remember cooks, mechanics, truck drivers, clerks, etc. being in Vietnam but I have yet to meet one.

Did you know only about 9% of the homeless are veterans?http://www.endhomelessness.org/pages/snapshot_of_homelessness

And I just as well bring this up. If you meet or hear someone saying he can’t tell you what he did because his records are classified you just met or heard a liar.
