Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has praised Sean Penn for his critical stance against the war in Iraq, saying the two chatted by phone and soon plan to meet in person. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070802/ap_en_ot/people_sean_penn
Mr. Penn, you will remember, found fault with the Bush administration’s “simplistic and inflammatory view of good and evil.” If any one has a simplistic view, it is Penn. Perhaps he should have spent more time in college rather than just attending. As for me, my view of simplistic is shown to the left. Of course, he has the right to be stupid and can advertise it as much as he wants. People like me helped guarantee those rights for him (Does he think he could do this as a citizen under El Presidente Chavez?) and actually celebrate that fact in spite of our disagreement with Penn.
I can just see, Penn, Glover, Belafonte, Clooney and that idiot Tim Robbins gathering in the House of Mirrors to look at their own brave images and to sing praises to one another.
My suggestion Penn, is to move your agnostic butt to Venezuela or Iraq or Iran. I will buy you the one-way ticket if you stay gone at least a year (coach class of course, so you can mingle with the people). We’ll miss you, little Seanie, as occasionally reading about you provides some therapeutic comic relief.
